Tub to Shower

Tub to Shower Conversions in the West GTA

That corner tub gets used twice a year and eats half the room. BathStar takes it out and builds a proper tiled walk-in shower in its place — waterproofing, glass, lighting, and finishing handled by one bathroom-only crew.

What the conversion involves

A conversion is more than pulling out a tub. The drain moves, the wall framing changes, and the whole wet area is waterproofed before a single tile goes on.

  • Tub removal and disposal
  • Drain relocation and plumbing
  • Framing and niche construction
  • Full waterproofing membrane
  • Tile walls, floor, and curb
  • Glass enclosure or panel
  • Shower lighting and venting
  • Grab-bar blocking if requested

Good candidates for a conversion

Unused corner jetted tubs in primary ensuites, tub-shower combos with a low step-over that has become awkward, and second bathrooms in homes where a bathtub already exists elsewhere.

Common questions

How much does a tub to shower conversion cost?
A conversion is quoted as part of a complete bathroom renovation, which starts at $15,000 with materials and labour included. You get the fixed price in writing after the free in-home visit.
How long does the conversion take?
Most bathrooms, including the conversion, are finished in about 10 working days. Past the completion date on your agreement, you receive a $200 credit per extra day.
Will removing the tub hurt resale?
If it is the only tub in the house, we usually recommend keeping one tub somewhere in the home and converting a second bathroom instead. We will tell you straight during the visit which room makes more sense.
Can you build a curbless or low-threshold shower?
Yes, where the floor structure allows. Curbless entries, grab-bar blocking, and bench seating are all common requests for aging-in-place projects, and we assess feasibility on site.
